The Peter Essoka Prize: NCC President chairs jury for inaugural edition

Joseph Chebongkeng Kalabubsu, President of the National Communication Council (NCC), chaired the jury for the maiden Peter Essoka Prize for Excellence in Journalism. The ceremony took place at the Ministry of External Relations (MINREX) as part of a wider program of activities marking Commonwealth Day.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of several personalities, including the Minister of External Relations, the Minister Delegate in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, and the Minister of Communication.

The prize recognised four journalists across two categories: Best female and male newscasters: Druscilla Mokosso and Benn Meno Pufong. Best female and male animators: Patience Embelle Fominyen and Njeck Sylvanus.

All four laureates are employees of the Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV). Each received a Certificate of Recognition alongside a cash prize of 500,000 FCFA, awarded by MINREX. The nominee shortlist also featured journalists from several other Cameroonian audiovisual news outlets, including Ndefcam Radio, My Media Prime, and Dash TV.

The Peter Essoka Prize was established to champion high standards within the industry. Moving forward, the award will continue to honour media practitioners from across Cameroon’s radio and television landscape who distinguish themselves through exceptional diction, accuracy in reporting, quality of delivery, and compliance with professional and ethical standards.
