Yaounde, 9 June 2026 — In a dedicated effort to reinforce the collaborative framework between the National Communication Council (NCC) and media stakeholders, the President of the NCC presided over a formal audience with a high-level delegation from the Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers’ Association (CENPA). The engagement reaffirms the Council’s commitment to an inclusive regulatory approach and to the promotion of professional integrity and media freedom within the national media landscape.
Media governance and sustainability
The working session provided a platform for an in-depth exchange on the current challenges and opportunities confronting the Cameroonian media sector. The agenda focused on four key themes:
A distinguished Award for the NCC President
In a notable gesture during the proceedings, the CENPA delegation conferred a special award upon NCC President Joseph Chebongkeng Kalabubsu, recognising him as a “Finest Arbiter of Media Integrity and Regulatory Excellence.” The distinction acknowledged his steadfast commitment to upholding media ethics, underscored by the rendering of over 104 decisions, all of which have been fully implemented.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to maintaining regular consultative channels, with a view to sustaining a dynamic and responsive partnership capable of addressing the evolving needs of the Cameroonian media industry.
